Leadership Transition Update

Move Minnesota board leaders Laura Greteman and Eric Moran recently shared an update about our new interim executive director, our hiring plans for this fall, and a big thank you to our supporters! Here’s what they had to say:

Dear Move Minnesota Community,

It was wonderful to see many of you this month at our farewell celebration for Move Minnesota’s outgoing executive director, Sam Rockwell–and to connect at other Move Minnesota events throughout the year! Like you, we are enthusiastic supporters of the work Move Minnesota does to create positive change for our communities and our climate. As leaders on our Board of Directors, we have seen up close Move Minnesota’s incredible achievements under Sam’s leadership the past few years, and we know he is leaving the organization in a strong position with an incredible foundation for our next executive director to build on.

With that in mind, many of you may be curious about what comes next! This fall, Move Minnesota will launch a robust local and national search for our new executive director. Before we do, our Board is taking the opportunity to think strategically about our big priorities for new leadership so that we’re setting the organization up for continued success. We look forward to keeping you updated as that process moves forward in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we are excited to share that longtime staff member Elissa Schufman, our very capable director of strategic partnerships, is serving as interim executive director! Elissa has been a tremendous asset at Move Minnesota over the past seven years, with a focus on building relationships and gathering resources that can make our vision of a more just and sustainable transportation system into reality. Elissa will be working alongside the rest of our amazing staff team and supporters like you to move our work forward this fall. We also want to thank you so much for your continued support during this time of transition and possibility for our organization! We have important work ahead of us to continue transforming transportation in Minnesota. And we know that transformation takes all of us–advocates, volunteers, donors, partners, staff, and board–all working together to make it happen!
